How To Contact Us

The HUB space is on the top floor of the David Puttnam Media Centre.

It’s open to all from 9-5 Mon-Fri during semester (subject to Covid-19 regulations).

  1. India Adams-Norton

    mediaHUB manager

    India is a former video journalist with Sky News’ pioneering digital service Sky Tyne and Wear.

    She previously taught journalism, including Essential Journalism, Online Video Journalism, News and Online Reporting, MA (Masters) Video Journalism and News Reporting (for which she was also module leader).



  2. Ewan Gleadow

    mediaHUB intern

    Ewan is a first-class honours journalism graduate from University of Sunderland as well as NCTJ qualified and freelancer for Daily Star and NewcastleWorld.

    In his final year, Ewan was the editor-in-chief of the University culture website, Northern Lights (now Spark Entertainment).

  3. Caitlyn Mcadam

    mediaHUB intern

    Caitlyn graduated from University of Sunderland in July 2021 with a first-class honours degree in fashion journalism.

    In her final year, Caitlyn was editor of Fashion North and produced an A4 glossy magazine, Noelle, a fashion and lifestyle Christmas magazine.

    Caitlyn is now on hand to use her range of skills and experience to help with writing and editing across multiple media platforms.

    She also monitors the hub’s social media and produces trending and educational content.



  4. Scott McGerty

    mediaHUB / Spark FM compliance manager

    An award-winning radio expert, Scott’s daily focus is on the running of Spark FM, UoS’s award-winning student-led radio station.

    He is also a presenter for Amazing Radio and runs new North East radio station, Dance Revolution, and is experienced in helping students and volunteers to produce creative and fun shows.

    His main role is as mediaHUB’s broadcast regulations expert, ensuring students and volunteers meet the standards of the regulator, Ofcom.

  5. Tom Mortlock

    Spark Intern

    Tom is the Spark Radio intern and is well versed in both journalism and radio broadcasting.

    If you need a hand in what to do in the studio, have ideas for a show or would like general support, he’s here to help.

  6. Steve Nickells

    mediaHUB technical & software

    Steve is the mediaHUB’s IT wizard – with a skill-set way wider than fixing computer problems.

    His background covers journalism, production journalism, photography and video, digital effects, web design, social media, podcasts, content delivery and live streaming to the web.

    He’s also consulted on outside broadcast set-ups and has extensive experience with the university’s TV and radio studios.

    Steve also offers in-depth support on a wide range of digital production software, especially Adobe Creative Cloud, as well as hands-on instruction of much of the hardware and cameras in the Media Centre.
